2009 Volunteer Calendar

The convention schedule can best be summarized in the following three phases:

1. Pre-Convention Phase (Saturday June 27 to Sunday July 5) - During this time period we will welcome the Board of International Directors and the District Governor Elects for their DGE School. Drivers will be needed to shuttle VIP guests to their hotels. The Convention Center Host Committee Office will also be set up at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Towards the end of this time period, Airport, Hotel and Highway Greeters will welcome our arriving guests. DGE Hotels will need Hotel Information Booths staffed by Lion Volunteers.
2. Convention Phase (Monday July 6 to Friday July 10) - Volunteers will be needed for Airport, Hotel and Highway Greeters, Sergeant-At-Arms, Parade Marshals, Hotel Information Booths, Merchandise Booths, Host Information Booths, Interpreters, and Event Volunteers. It is during this time period that most of the convention activity takes place and when the most volunteer help will be needed.
3. Post Convention Phase (Saturday July 11 to Sunday July 12) - The Board will be departing over the weekend. We expect to need Drivers and Airport Greeters to assist our departing guests.
